Legends, Myths and Legacies: The Cine-Excess 2026 Screening Season

To complement this year's festival theme, Cine-Excess 2026 features the screening season Legends, Myths and Legacies, which considers how legends and myths circulate across cult film representations before becoming remediated and adapted by the curated selection of new releases featured in this year’s festival.
The season comprises in-person UK film premieres alongside a range of streamed releases, many of which are being made available for international audiences to watch. The Legends, Myths and Legacies screening season is open to academics, students and members of the public (aged 18 years and over).
In-person screenings take place at the ODEON Birmingham New Street Cinema (this page will be updated with Odeon booking links in early October). Streamed releases can be accessed online via the Cine-Excess Film Festival Showcase on Vimeo, which will be made available to delegates who buy tickets to the academic conference (age verification requirements apply for streamed films). Please watch this YouTube tutorial on how to Age Verify on Vimeo
All screenings start at 8pm - in person at Birmingham Odeon and streaming links going live each day.
