Over the last three years, the Cult Film Archive at Brunel University has developed the successful Cine-Excess Cult Film Conference and Festival as a high profile annual event which brings together leading international scholars and critics with global cult filmmakers. Cine-Excess comprises a 3 day 10-15 parallel strand conference alongside plenary talks, filmmaker interviews and UK theatrical premieres of up and coming cult releases. A related Cine-Excess DVD and Blu-Ray cult film label was also launched in May 2009 to accompany the event.

Some of the previous guests to the Cine-Excess Cult Film Conference and Festival have included John Landis (An American Werewolf in London, The Blues Brothers, Trading Places), Roger Corman (The Masque of the Red Death, The Little Shop of Horrors, The Intruder, The Wild Angels, Bloody Mama), Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, King of the Ants, Stuck), Brian Yuzna (Society, Beyond Re-Animator, The Dentist) and Dario Argento (Profondo Rosso/Deep Red, Suspiria, Inferno).

Our keynotes have included Sir Christopher Frayling (Head of the Arts Council), Professor Mark Jancovich (University of East Anglia), Professor Martin Barker (University of Wales, Aberystwyth), Dr Matt Hills (University of Cardiff), Professor Jeffrey Sconce (Northwestern University) and Professor Chris Jenks (Brunel University).

Cine-Excess IV focuses on the body in cult media, including film, TV, games, comics and online media. The conference and festival will explore various aspects of how the body has been represented within the cult tradition: spectacular, monstrous, mutilated, erotic, gendered, transfigured, censored, ethnic, transgressive, unruly, resistant, grotesque, dead, undead, violent, objectified, technologically enhanced, etc.

Proposals are welcomed on, but not limited to, the following topics and areas:

7. ➡The virtual, digital and/or online body
   

8. ➡The censored body
   

9. ➡The monstrous and/or grotesque body.
   

10. ➡Carnal Bodies: eroticism and cult cinema
    

11. ➡Continental Bodies: European cult cinema
    

12. ➡Bodies of Terror: Physiology and the War on Terror
    

13. ➡Psychotic Bodies: Mental Aberrations and the Cult Abject
    

14. ➡Dead Bodies: The Cult Deceased
    

15. ➡Methodological Bodies: New Perspectives on the Cult Corporeal
