Cine-Excess are delighted to confirm that this year’s Guest of Honour is leading cult horror icon Joe Dante, who will be recipient of the 2010 Cine-Excess Lifetime Achievement Award.

Corporeal Excess: Cult Bodies features a high profile keynote address by Professor Richard Dyer (King’s College), on the topic of European serial killers in society and cinema.

Exclusive Screenings

As the reputation of Cine-Excess festival component continues to grow, we are able to secure a number of high profile UK theatrical premieres and exclusive pre-release screenings. This year we are proud to present our strongest line-up of exclusive screenings to date including two very special UK theatrical premieres.

Cine-Excess IV features a 3-day academic conference and film festival, with 8-10 plenary panels, filmmaker interviews, UK theatrical premieres of up and coming cult releases. This year, the guest of honour is Joe Dante (Piranha, The Howling, Gremlins, Matinee), with a keynote address by Professor Richard Dyer.

The conference and festival will focus on the body in cult media including film, TV, games, comics and online media. Various aspects of how the body has been represented within the cult tradition will be discussed: spectacular, monstrous, mutilated, erotic, gendered, transfigured, censored, ethnic, transgressive, unruly, resistant, grotesque, dead, undead, violent, objectified and technologically enhanced.
